Atlanta weddings deserve more than a standard open bar. Whether you’re planning a downtown rooftop reception or a backyard celebration in Decatur, these five cocktails consistently win over our wedding clients. Each one balances approachability with craft. They’re built to be poured at scale without losing their character.
1. The Georgia Peach Smash
Bourbon, fresh muddled peach, mint, lemon juice, and honey syrup, served over crushed ice with a peach slice and mint sprig garnish.
This is the cocktail people remember from your wedding. It’s distinctly Southern without being kitschy, and the fresh peach gives it a brightness that holds up through a long reception. We pre-batch the bourbon, lemon, and honey, then build each drink to order with fresh peach and mint. This keeps service fast without sacrificing freshness.
Best season: late spring through early fall, when Georgia peaches are at peak.
2. Rosemary Gin Fizz
Gin, rosemary-infused simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, egg white, and a splash of club soda, served up with a rosemary sprig.
A modern, herbaceous cocktail that pairs well with appetizers and longer toasts. The egg white gives it a soft, foamy texture that photographs beautifully. We infuse the rosemary syrup the morning of the event so the flavor is bright and not woody.
Best for outdoor weddings, garden venues, and events with herb-forward catering.
3. Blackberry Bourbon Sour
Bourbon, fresh blackberries, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white, shaken hard and served up.
A jewel-toned cocktail that holds its own visually next to the most elaborate florals. The blackberries are muddled fresh and the egg white gives it the same silky texture as the gin fizz. We typically batch the bourbon-lemon-syrup base in advance and build to order.
Best for fall and winter weddings, especially with deep-red color palettes.
4. Champagne Cocktail
A sugar cube soaked in Angostura bitters, dropped into a flute of chilled champagne, finished with a lemon twist.
The classic. There’s a reason this cocktail has been served at weddings for over a century. It elevates the toast moment, it’s simple to execute at scale, and it pairs with absolutely anything. We recommend it as the welcome drink during cocktail hour and the toast pour.
Pro tip: use a slightly drier champagne than you’d otherwise pick. The bitters and sugar add their own complexity.
5. Classic Old Fashioned
Bourbon or rye, a sugar cube, two dashes of Angostura bitters, and an orange peel expressed over the top, served over a large ice cube.
A staple for a reason. We typically include this on every wedding menu because there’s always at least one guest who wants something stiff, traditional, and well-made. The trick to serving these at volume is pre-batching the bourbon-sugar-bitters mix and serving over fresh, large-format ice with a freshly expressed orange peel each time.
We use a slightly higher-proof bourbon for old fashioneds at events. It cuts through the ice melt and keeps the flavor strong throughout the drink.
Building Your Menu
For a typical Atlanta wedding (100 to 150 guests), we recommend featuring two of these as signature cocktails, with classic beer, wine, and a champagne pour available throughout. This keeps your bar interesting without overwhelming guests with too many choices.
